Best outdoor venue I've been to (with one or two caveats)

Saw needtobreathe here, with The New Respects and Switchfoot opening. The New Respects were new to me but their energetic show won me over. I like Switchfoot but have never been impressed with their live show -- the short setlist was pretty weak and lots of cliched moves that seemed forced (holding the guitar aloft dramatically and all that sort of posing). Needtobreathe played for two full hours and they brought it at every level -- the cliche stuff didn't feel as forced, the tech for the show was amazing and on point, the performances energetic and never boring, even though I would have switched up the set list some to trade songs I don't like and put in some I love a lot that got skipped. The highlight, though, was the cover of Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" with all three bands on stage. Bombastic and joyous, I had a smile on my face the entire time. The venue -- Moody Amphitheater -- is pretty amazing. The sound was great from wherever I stood, and it's small enough that there aren't really any bad seats. This will sound blasphemous, but I prefer it to Red Rocks because of its size. Just a great venue, with one small complaint -- there is very little to eat in the area immediately around the park, because it's the government area and everything is closed evenings. So I figured I'd get food inside -- a guy at the gate told me there was plenty to eat -- but there were only like four options, and the brisket sandwich I ordered for $12 was pretty terrible. They need to add a bit more food. Otherwise, amazing place.
